Beach Road Pattaya is probably the most well known and most photographed part of Pattaya City. Beach Road is a densely populated area literally filled with activity all day every day. The Beach Road area of Pattaya is tightly packed with hotels ranging in price from a few hundred baht for a guest room up to many thousands of baht for the finest hotel rooms. Beach Road Pattaya runs in between the famous Pattaya Beach on one side and multiple hotels, beer bars, gogo bars, small retail shops for bargain hunters, specialty boutique shopping centers, motorbike rental agents, dive boat operators and much more on the other side.

Driving along Beach Road in the morning before 10am on any given day is a leisurely and comfortable experience. On a clear day you can see the island of Koh Larn off the coast of Pattaya, it’s about a half hour speed boat ride away and the boats leave regularly from all points along Pattaya Beach all day long. Driving along Beach Road after lunch on a weekday the traffic can get pretty congested. However driving along Beach Road on the weekends in the afternoon or evenings the road can be just one giant traffic jam. If you are in a car cruising the street at night it can be a very slow trip. If you are on a motorbike you can usually weave your way through the traffic a little quicker but be careful as many people are crossing the road in between the traffic and it can be a real nightmare.

If you are looking for girls in Pattaya and like to avoid the bars and the “bar fine” that comes with the typical bar girl, Beach Road is crawling with freelance Thai girls looking for love or should I say lust from the early evening into very late in the night. If you are drunk or not experienced in Pattaya or Thailand for that matter you should be on the lookout for kathoeys which are Thai ladyboys that hunt for men along Beach Road. Sometimes you will be able to tell the difference between a kathoey and a real Thai girl but not always and if she has already had a sex change operation you might never know but hey that’s all part of the Thailand adventure so don’t get too worried about it.

Beach Road stretches from the luxurious Dusit Resort with its manicured grounds at one end of Pattaya Beach and runs about 3km (2 miles) to Walking Street at the other end. At the Walking Street end you can continue along Walking Street on your motorbike or in your car during the day but Walking Street is only for pedestrians at night. At night or during the day the end of Beach Road makes a left turn up to Second Road Pattaya.

If you have never been to Pattaya before or have not booked a hotel before you arrive, there is a good chance you will find some type of available accommodation around the Beach Road area at all times throughout the year. Although sometimes around Thai holidays and the Christmas and New Year period Pattaya can be almost entirely booked out for accommodation but usually you will be ok. If you are only in Pattaya for a short stay be sure to check out Beach Road at least once on your trip as it is always the height of activity in the Pattaya area with a warm holiday atmosphere all year round.
