In all the years I have spent in Pattaya I have never seen as many ladyboys in Pattaya as I have seen recently. I know Pattaya ladyboys have become a huge draw card for the local tourist market over the last few years but the ratio of ladyboys to regular girls has seriously increased in recent years. Of course there are still many more regular Thai girls than there are Thai ladyboys in Pattaya but everywhere you go these days you just about always see a ladyboy swinging her stuff and putting herself on display.
Once upon a time Pattaya ladyboys had quite a bad reputation for mugging drunk men at the Walking Street end of Beach Road late at night, sometimes doing some serious physical damage to these helpless men in the process. It even caused some Pattaya locals to get quite upset with Pattaya ladyboys in general and sadly there were ladyboys getting bashed who often had done nothing wrong other than be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Many locals make very good money from tourists and they didn’t want the reputation of a safe holiday destination being spoilt by a ruthless bunch of Pattaya ladyboys so they took the law into their own hands and served some vigilante style justice to ladyboys who were seen lingering, looking for men late at night in certain areas of Pattaya. Perhaps these Pattaya ladyboys got the message since reports of ladyboys mugging tourists have become much less common. For the innocent Pattaya ladyboys in the crowd this is also good news as ladyboy bashings are far less frequent.
A few days ago I jumped in a baht bus on Beach road near Soi 2, where the A-One Hotel is located, it is the hotel that looks like 2 giant cruise boats next to one another, and headed up Beach road to Walking Street. Just after I got in the baht bus it stopped and a farang guy and a sexy young girl climbed aboard, he wasn’t paying her any attention and she kept looking at me. I was thinking to myself how beautiful she was and had no idea at first she was a ladyboy since she didn’t display any of the usual physical characteristics of a transsexual. It was due to the fact she kept staring and preening her hair in a way that a normal girl would never do but in classic ladyboy style that I knew she was a he. I am pretty good at spotting a ladyboy but I didn’t initially pick up on this one.
The ladyboy and her lover jumped out of the baht bus after only about 500 meters and not long after the baht bus got moving again into the busy Beach road traffic, it stopped again and on jumped another two ladyboys who this time were a dead giveaway. I have always been amused by ladyboys and have gotten to know a few over the years and I have always thought they have such a good sense of humor. However, no matter how often guys tell them not to “act” so much like girls, since real girls don’t try to be girls, most ladyboys never listen or they simply don’t understand. These two were either on something or they were just very eager to get down to Walking Street and look for some new business. They were flicking their hair, both of them were trying to touch me and some other guy in the baht bus who actually looked scared, perhaps he was a Pattaya first timer, I was really trying hard to hold back the laughter as I watched these two Pattaya ladyboys annoy this guy by blowing him kisses and trying to grab him where he very much did not want to be grabbed. I have seen it all before and I know it is harmless fun but I still get a kick out of watching them act like girls and tease anyone who looks at them.
As the baht bus pulled up just before walking street the two Pattaya ladyboys jumped out and headed on down Walking Street while I headed to the ATM machine to get some cash. Standing next to the cash machine was a group of about four or five ladyboys having a screaming conversation in Thai. As I put my card into the ATM machine one of them grabbed me on the ass while another tried to grab me somewhere else, I’m sure you can imagine where, I looked around and told them in Thai I’m not interested but I hope you have a good night. They get a little off put when you talk to them in their own language and often don’t know how to react, it gave me just enough time to grab my money and shoot off before they tried again. Pattaya ladyboys are very persistent to say the least.
As I headed along Walking Street to meet my friends I was shocked at just how many ladyboys were now in Pattaya. I had not been along Walking Street at night for quite a while but I am certain there were more ladyboys walking around Walking Street and standing out the front of bars than ever before. Jenny Star Bar which is the ladyboy bar of the universe was literally jam packed with Kathoeys inside and out the front of the bar in numbers I had never before seen.
If you are keen to meet or interact with some Pattaya ladyboys, now is most certainly the time as if I didn’t know any better I would say it was invasion of the ladyboys in Pattaya these days.
